Editor's Note
Hey all! Welcome back. I hope you all had a Thanksgiving full of delicious food, rest, and maybe a tasty jam? I know I did. In fact, I had my first jam here in DC, complete with new friends, new techniques, and new.. knee bashing.
So, while I was walking jauntily back and forth afterwards, insisting I was fine (Fine, yep, thanks very much, yep. Hmmmm. Sssssss. Just fine.) the same old thought popped into my head. Where did I lose my focus and why? The answers this time put me to shame. I had lost focus because I had rushed myself, filled with the excitement of new training grounds and the rush trying to keep up with my new friends. I had become unstable in my technique because I had stopped thinking about the obstacle under me, and started thinking about the next one on my list. The mantra "do it, do it well, do it well and fast" has been spouted from my mouth countless times, and so I feel silly to not have followed the advice myself. I guess we can all slip up from time to time.
The theme of this month's newsletter is mindfulness in your training. It's something that I know I will be working on deliberately in my training this month, and something that I hope you all keep in mind out there too.

The Elder Traceur
It seems like lately, parkour has been in the news all over the place for causing injuries and sometimes even deaths. Salil takes a moment in this month's Elder Traceur to examine why this is, and postulate what we might be able to do to prevent more of these accidents from occurring in the face of the expansive growth of parkour. Read this article to find out what you can do to help.
December's Shot
Just so happens this is Tyson Cecka of the Tribe climbing his way up like a Monkey! Photograph was taken by Kellen Fujimoto.
Holiday Games
After a month off, Henry is back with a couple new games for us to try. These are holiday themed time-trials with an emphasis on teamwork, perfect for office parties or family holiday get-togethers.
Rise: Chapter 9
The next chapter of Rise is here! This month, we follow Rusty as he continues to prepare himself for the Pro/Am PKFR competition. When the media announces his participation in the competition, Rusty finds himself no longer able to hide his training or his intentions.
Perspective
Training blogs have given others insight into the workout routines of many traceurs of varying lifestyles. This is not a workout routine. This is the sum of a month's reflection. This is my Perspective.
Monkee See, Monkee Say
"I remind them, "Control, not speed! Slow it down, take time," but the race is even present in their minds --'Must run fast go obstacles now!' " Brandee writes this month on being conscious in the moment, alive-aware of the now, instead of rushing ahead of ourselves in a race to.. what?
